Buck Show – The 36th annual buck show went well. There were 29 entrants in the senior division, 14 entrants in the junior division, and 5 non-eligible entrants. Congratulations to Bruce Nelson for winning 1st place in the senior division and Kassidy Wendt for winning the junior division. TJ would like to thank everyone that volunteered their time and effort to make the buck show run smoothly.

Sheyenne Valley Calling Contest- The calling contest will be January 18th and the gun raffle tickets are available for sale.

Election of Directors- The election of directors will take place at the December meeting. If you are interested or would like to nominate someone let Perry or another board member know.

Hunting Land Available for Youth- Randy Koch has offered to let youth deer hunters use his stand if they would like. It is located by Bay Shore and has easy access. If you are interested please contact Randy, 490-1699.

Deer for the Food Pantry – If you would like to donate a deer you can drop it off at Valley Meats.

Jamestown and Pipestem Reservoirs – The Corp has closed both lakes for winter activity this year.

NDWF Convention- The convention will be January 3rd and 4th in Bismarck. Contact Perry if you are interested in attending.

Pheasant Tail Contest – The pheasant tail contest will take place before the January Meeting. Please bring in the entire tail section from the pheasant.

Hides for Habitat- There will be a 50/50 drawing again this year.

Here are the results from the 36th Annual 2019 Buck Show. I am going to attach the results sheets then I will send some more emails with pictures.

The 36th annual buck show went well. There were 29 entrants in the senior division, 14 entrants in the junior division, and 5 non-eligible entrants. First and foremost I want to thank everyone that volunteered their time and effort to make the buck show run smoothly. With more than 20 volunteers it definitely takes a lot of people to make a show of this size work. We would also like to thank everyone for bringing their deer in. We like to see all of the success that people had this season in the field.

Buck Show – The buck show will be held at the Valley City Eagles on Monday November 25th The contest is open to any ND deer taken this season by bow or rifle, by a Barnes County resident or BCWF member. Deer need to be brought in the SE door between 6 and 7:30. If you would like to help with the buck show contact TJ 490-0929.

Fall Banquet – The fall banquet and auction will be Friday November 1st. If you can help out the night of the banquet or with setup the night before, please contact Perry 490-1797 or let him know at the meeting. If you can help with collecting donations contact Jeff Differding. Early Bird tickets need to be turned in by October 19th.

Summer Picnic- There was a great turnout again this year. There was about 80 pounds of fish fried.

Lure ‘em for Life- The club sent 5 kids to the camp this summer.

Moon Lake and Faust Park- The club is going to look into putting up picnic shelters at both places.

Trap Club Fun Night- Fun Night and Annie Oakley Shoot will be Tuesday the 17th starting at 5 pm. The proceeds benefit the Hunter’s ED Program. Call Todd if you have any questions 840-1198.

Take a Kid Fishing- There were 28 kids that attended this year. They caught a lot of bass and bluegills. Goose is asking for anyone that is interested in chairing the event in the future to contact him or Perry.

Summer Derby- The derby was held June 8th and 9th at Lake Ashtabula. The derby was won by Darrel and Cody Wegner with a total weight of 29.9 lbs. There were 584 walleyes weighed in.

Bullhead Derby- The derby was on 8/24. There were 15 teams and a total of 48 participants.

Pheasant Chicks- 1200 chicks were given to the raisers this year.

VCHS Trap Team- The trap team had 12 members go to nationals in Mason MI. The event drew 2,835 shooters this year. Saturday -Braylen Bruns scored a solid score of 98 out of 100 targets hit and in 29thplace over all, Blake Didier hit 97 of 100 targets placing him in 69th position in qualifying, Evan Mielke scored a 95 of 100 moving him on to the finals in 190thposition. Mitchell Broadwell also made the finals cut with a score of 93 and in 299th place, these scores moved Braylen, Blake, Evan and Mitchell into the final round on Sunday.Sunday- Braylen Bruns repeated his good performance on Saturday with another 98 on Sunday giving him a 196 of 200 competition total and an impressive 23rd place finish overall. Blake Didier recorded a finals day total of 98 giving Blake a two day total of 195 and a 29th place finish. Evan Mielke scored a 94 giving him a total of 189 and Mitchell Broadwell scored a finals day round of 96 giving him a 189 two-day total. Evan was 212thplace and Mitchell 213 as Evan had a reverse score total of 10 and Mitchell had a reverse score count of 9.

Buffalo Sharp Shooters- They attended nationals again this year. The club donated $1,000 to help with the costs of going.

BCN Trap Team- The club donated $500 to their trap team.

DU Waterfowl Hunter Party- The DU event is on 9/26 at the Eagles at 5:30. Your ticket automatically gets you entered into the 10 gun raffle. You can purchase as many tickets as you wish and you do not need to be present to win. Your ticket is good for dinner the night of the event and a annual DU membership.

Summer Derby- The derby is June 8th and 9th.  Perry could still use some help getting the flights in and out.  If you can help out this weekend give him a call, 490-1797

BCW Scholarships- This year’s winners are Ellen Anderson, Zachary Chaplin, Noah Schaefer, and Morgan Gentzkow.

Sheyenne Riverfest-  Rivefest will be August 3rd in and around Valley City.  BCW has donated $200 to the event.  If you are interested in helping with the event please contact Perry.

Valley City Trap Club-   BCW will be donating $2500 to the trap club again this year to help fund the summer youth trap shooting program.

Chautauqua Park Boat Ramp- BCW has a grant request in to the Outdoor Heritage Fund to repair the ramp area in the park.  It will be a 75/25% split with Parks and Rec. 

VCHS Trap Team- There are 50 shooters in the spring, 11 females and 39 males.  43 of the kids are attending the state tournament.

Hunter Ed- There may be a class in June, but they are still trying to organize it. If anyone is interested in becoming an instructor please contact Karl.

Lure Em for Life Camp- Lure Em for Life fishing camp, in Devils lake will be August 4th – 8th.   The camp is for ages 8-13.  Contact Perry for an app. 

Prairie Waters- Bonita Roswick brought applications for the summer camps.  BCWF will pay 75% of the camp costs or 100% in hardship cases. 

Summer Picnic – Will be at Dacotah Pavilion, in Chautauqua Park at 6:30 on August 14th.  Please bring a salad or dessert to share.  Bring your own beverage if you would like something other than pop or water.

Welcome all renewals and new members! 

Our benefits include our club newsletter, free burgers at most meetings, and a subscription to North Dakota Outdoors Magazine.

If you have not renewed your membership yet or you would like to sign up you can download a form to send in from our website , by talking to a club officer, or stopping at L&H Shoe Shop.

Legislative- SB2315 has been defeated.  Please make sure to thank Senator Robinson and Representatives Kiefert and Johnston for voting against it.

Summer Derby- The derby is June 8th and 9th.  There are a few spots still available. Entry forms were mailed out to everyone that fished last year, please get these mailed back in to secure your place.  If you didn’t fish the derby last year, but would like to this year contact Perry. 

VCHS Trap Team- There are 50 kids shooting trap this spring, 11 girls and 39 boys. 

Big Spenders Banquet- Thanks to all the volunteers.  We had a good turnout this year.  Winners are on the following page.

Perch Rings- Perch rings are done and put out.  Thank you to everyone that volunteered.

Hunter Ed- Karl Helland said there were 21 students at the March class.  The NDGF is adding bow hunting to Hunter Ed. There may be a class in June, but they are still trying to organize it. If anyone is interested in becoming an instructor please contact Karl.
