VCHS Trap Team competed at the state trap shoot on Sunday, June 17th. The team had a great performance at the state shoot in all categories. The team took 6th in the Varsity portion with a score of 448. Top teams were Devils Lake 473, Grand Forks Central 472, South Prairie 472, Shanley 451, Oak Grove 451. In the JV division Valley City placed 3rd with a score of 415. In the Novice division Valley City took home the championship with a score of 384.

Big Spenders Banquet & Raffle – We had a good turnout for the banquet. BCWF netted around $16,000 off of the boards, bird bands, and $1,000 raffles! The raffle winners are listed on the next page.
Fisheries Project – The new ramp has been put in at the West Ashtabula Crossing. The total cost for the project was around $40,000.
Road Cleanup – Road cleanup is Wednesday May 2nd. Meet at the fish hatchery at 5. If you would like to help, but haven’t volunteered yet contact Perry 490-1797, so that he can order the right amount of food.
Creel Survey – Gary Erickson was the drawing winner for January. Gary donated the money back to the club. We would like to thank Gary for that. Greg Miller won the February drawing.
Pheasant Chicks – The chicks are scheduled to be here May 31st at 5:30 pm, at Cenex.
Trap Team – Tj said there are 53 shooters signed up this year, 11 more than last year. TJ could use some more volunteers, if you have time to help contact TJ, 490-0929.
Summer Derby – Will be June 9th & 10th, if you can help contact Perry to volunteer. Applications have been mailed out, if you are interested in fishing the derby and haven’t before contact Perry right away, we are very close to a full field.
Jr Archery – Youth Archery will be Tuesday nights. The club will be helping to purchase half a gross of arrows for the program.
Archery – They have started their own group called Sheyenne Valley Bowmen. They are shooting on Sundays and Mondays in the basement of the old rec center. For more information contact Kyle Roelfsema, 840-5229.
March Hunters Ed – The March class had 45 students complete the class.
Perch Rings – We will be putting out perch rings again on Lake Ashtabula. Perry will contact the people that have volunteered to help was a date and time is set.

Archery- They will be shooting in the basement of the rec center. Since they will be in the rec center membership money will now go to the Parks and Rec rather than BCWF.
Winter Show- Attendance was way down since the booth wasn’t there on the same weekend as the rodeo. We are discussing not having a booth next year unless there is a change to the weekend.
Fisheries Project- The project is the west boat ramp at the crossing. We are hoping to get started soon after ice out.
Big Spenders Raffle and Banquet – The banquet is April 7th and the Perry said that there were 4 tickets left at the time of the meeting.
Perch Rings- The tentative date to work on the rings is April 12th. Let Perry now if you are interested in helping.
Pheasant Chicks- Perry said that 1500 chicks have been ordered for the 16 raisers.
Scholarships – The scholarship apps are on the website and Facebook page. They were also emailed out to members. The deadline is April 1st and we will be giving out 3 scholarships.
2018 Walleye Derby- The derby is June 9th and 10th. The field is 80% full, contact Perry if you are interested.
Creel Survey- We had 84 entrants; the drawing winner was Gary Erickson from Page.
Boy Scouts – They are looking for a donation of $1000 to upgrade equipment.
Tri County Trap Club/ BCN Trap Team- Al Goehring spoke about the trap team. They almost doubled the shooters, with 32 kids shooting this year. With donations they have been able to keep the cost to the shooters under $100. They were selling raffle tickets to help fund their team. They have students coming from Kensal, Montpelier, and Hope Page. They asked that we donate $1000 again this year to their trap team.
Prairie Waters- Bonita Roswick asked for a donation of $1500 to help order more waders.
Valley City Trap Club – There is a working meeting on 3/27. They are planning on getting league started up. Please contact Lewis or Terry if you are interested in shooting league

BCWF Coyote Derby – We had 14 teams this year. There were 3 coyotes shot. Ties were broke by check in time. 1st Place was Ben Baasch, 2nd Place was Mel Berger & Braylen Bruns, and 3rd Place was Justin Gronbeck, Chris Owen, & Gary Will. Largest Coyote went to Mel Berger and Braylen Bruns. Smallest Coyote went to Ben Baasch. Hunt Gun Winner was Jody Mulder.
Big Spenders Banquet- The banquet is 4/7. Perry has less than 10 tickets left so contact him ASAP if you would like one.

North Dakota Winter Show – We will have a booth up at the winter show March 3-5. If you haven’t had a chance to renew your membership please stop by and renew it.

BCWF Coyote Derby- The derby will be held February 3rd registration 6 am to 8 am at Stout Ross Ford. Shooting time is from 6am to 6:30pm.
Pheasant Tail Contest- First Place went to Tim Logan with a 24 1/4” tail feather. Second Place was Josh Liebersbach 24”. Third Place was Wayne Liebersbach 23 1/2”.
Ice Derby- We had a good turnout considering the weather. Results are on the following page.
Junior Naturalist- Next event is Nature Arts & Crafts, February 13th at Rhodes Science Center.
Hides for Habitat- The winner was Larry Pederson, 50/50 cash split from sale on hides. We had 62 hides and we got $226.50 for them.
Sheyenne Valley Calling Contest- There was 15 teams, with a total of 36 hunters. There were a total of 12 coyotes brought in. The first place team with a total of 6 coyotes was Keith Hample, Eugene Sandness and Rob Sandness of LaMoure. The second place team with a total of 2 coyotes was Russ Young and Lee Slykerman and the third place team with 2 coyotes was Tatem Brandt, Dillon Carpenter and Nathan Schmidt.
Membership Drive/Landowner Supper- We had a good turnout, 223 meals were served.
Gas & Grocery Raffle- The raffle was a success again this year, approximately $2,000 was made.
Fingal Smoker- The smoker will be held February 9th.
Delta Waterfowl Banquet- The banquet is February 24th at the Eagles. The proceeds go to the VCHS Trap Team.
