Big Spenders Banquet – Will be April 8th at the Eagles. Social starts at 5:30, 6:30 banquet. If you can help with setup or at the banquet contact Perry.
 
American Fisheries Society – We received the club of the year award from the ND chapter of the American Fisheries Society, we were nominated by VCSU.
 
Perch Rings: We will be putting the perch rings out on Lake Ashtabula to help the perch spawn again this year.
 
Barnes County North Trap Team – Al Goring attended the March meeting and discussed the new trap team being started. They have 15 kids signed up and estimated the cost would be around $6,000 to get started. Barnes County Wildlife donated $1,000 to help them get started.
 
Summer Derby – Applications have been mailed out, if you are interested in fishing the derby and haven’t before contact Perry right away, we are very close to a full field.
 
Fisheries Project – Tentative project this year will be putting a new ramp in at the West Ashtabula Crossing. We have requested a cost share with the G&F, but have not heard back yet.
 
Pheasant Chicks – Chicks have been ordered. If you did not contact Perry, call him and you might still be able to get some. They are coming Wednesday, May 31st at 5pm to Cenex.
 
Jr Naturalists – They will be going fishing on 4/20 at Sundstroms Landing on Lake Ashtabula at 4 pm. See the attached posters for more info.
VCHS Trap Team – There are 42 kids shooting on the trap team this year.
 
Gaylon Hansen Youth Day – The date has been set for August 2nd this year. The event is open to kids ages 9-18.
 
Archery Reminder-The Archery Club has a new facility for its members located at 1025 4 Bottle Drive in the northwest industrial park between Drug Plastics and the Barnes County Municipal Airport. Shooting times are Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 7pm to 9pm. For more information call Neil Pederson at 840-0173.
 
New Fishing License – Remember to renew your fishing license. Last year’s license expired on 3/31.

BCWF Predator Hunt – There were 16 teams and 32 hunters this year. There were a total of 13 coyotes shot. The winner of the riffle was Mike Thoreson. The largest coyote was shot by Ian Severson and Natalie Koch. The smallest dog was shot by Eugene Sandness, Keith Hample, Rob Sandness. The top 3 teams were -1st Place – 3 Coyotes. Eugene Sandness, Keith Hample, Rob Sandness;2nd Place – 2 Coyotes Dustin Krueger, Nick Olson, Austin Gahner; 3rd Place – 2 Coyotes. Justin Gronbeck and Gary Will.  Ties were broke by check in time. 

North Dakota Winter Show:  We are having a booth again this year at the Winter Show March 9th-11th stop by and renew your membership if you have not had a chance to do so yet.  We will have some information from the Game and Fish and a picture slide show of events throughout the year.

VCSU Scholarships:  The application is attached to the email and also available at L&H Shoe Shop and Perry also has some.  The deadline to turn in applications this year is April 1st.

Hunters Ed – Next class starts in March.  Class dates will be March 13th, 14th, 16th, 20th, and 23rd.  Contact Skip Pederson 845-3211 with questions.

Archery– They are shooting Monday and Wednesday nights starting at 7. The location is 1025 4 Bottle Drive.  Contact Neil for more information 840-0173.

BCWF Predator Hunt- The hunt is February 4th registration is 6-8 am at Stout Ross Ford on Winter Show Rd.
Ice Fishing Derby- We had a great turn out and nice weather. We had 245 people come out and fish. There was a total of 9 fish weighed in. Results below

NDWF Convention- Bob “Swampy” Maresh was named Sportsman of the year.
 
Hides for Habitat- The winner was Levi Anderson, 50/50 cash split from sale on hides. We had 34 hides and we got $116 for them.
 
Pheasant Tail Contest- First Place went to Perry Kapaun with a 23 3/4” tail feather. Second Place was Bob Anderson 23 9/16”. Third Place was Ethan Kapaun 23 1/8”.
 
Sheyenne Valley Calling Contest: We had 15 teams this year and 11 coyotes were shot. First place team was Gary Will, Justin Gronbeck, Chris Owen, second place Russ Young and Lee Skylerman, third place Jeff Baumann. The gun winner was Rob Sanders.

Big Spenders Banquet – Will be April 8th at the Eagles. Contact Perry for tickets, they are going fast.
 
Delta Waterfowl Banquet – Is Feb. 25th, they will be donating the proceeds to the High School Trap Team.
 
Winter Show- We will be having a booth at the Winter Show again this year please contact Josh Holm if you can sit in the booth for a couple hours, 840-5269.
